History
Ashen Hills is what's left of the Second Kindred's quarry roads — grey stone hills that used to supply half the old realm's masonry. The Sundering scoured the topsoil clean off in a single night, leaving bare rock and drifting ash that never quite settles. The Scorpion King rules what grew to fill the emptiness: a hardened, chitinous line of creatures built for a place with no water and no shade. Caravans still cross it, because it's still the shortest road east — just not a safe one.
